Believe it or not, women do know their way around a car.

I consider myself very fortunate to have been raised by phenomenal parents. I had a mother who was very independent and a father who understood how important it was to teach me "guy stuff." In the middle of nowhere California, I grew up shootin' guns, changing tires and wittlin' sticks.

Call me a tomboy, but I wouldn't change a thing.

This almost seems necessary when taking your car to the shop. According to NBC DFW, a new study by RepairPal says that one in four shops in the Dallas, Texas area could be overcharging customers, specifically women. The study also found that women are charged an average of 8 percent more than men across the country when it comes to repairs.

So two women in Dallas are changing that with their own shop.

Robin Mainer and Kimera Shepler have opened up Honest-1 Auto Care North Texas in Lewisville, along with a few other shops in Texas. They say they have only hired the best in the business and the focus is more on education. If your car needs something, they will take the time to explain why with all customers, especially women.

This is something I can definitely get on board with and I wouldn't be surprised to see a trend start in other cities.
