For all of our Halloween-loving friends, your time to shine is here in Shreveport-Bossier City! Are you ready to dress up and do the 'Monster Mash?' I don't know about you, but I've been ready for cooler weather for a while now!

Two of our five Shreveport area Spirit Halloween Stores are opening today, August 17th, 2022, at 11 am!

That's right! It's time to start planning your costume(s) and getting all of your props ready at our local Spirit Halloween superstores! This may sound crazy, but I know people who start planning their spooky Halloween decor for the following year before the last Reese's Peanut Butter Cup has been unwrapped. I guess I'm trying to put Spirit Halloween opening their stores up two and half months before Halloween in perspective. After all, you'll be hearing Christmas music before you know it!

By the way, if you haven't seen the 4.5' animatronic sitting scarecrow, you've got to check it out! It'll make your Halloween party 'hex-tra special.' Of course, you'll win 'Mummy of the Year' with the huge inflatable hearse filled with skeletons in your front yard, too! Have fun shopping you ghoul! We hope you have a 'howling' good time!

LOOK: How Halloween has changed in the past 100 years

Stacker compiled a list of ways that Halloween has changed over the last 100 years, from how we celebrate it on the day to the costumes we wear trick-or-treating. We’ve included events, inventions, and trends that changed the ways that Halloween was celebrated over time. Many of these traditions were phased out over time. But just like fake blood in a carpet, every bit of Halloween’s history left an impression we can see traces of today.
