When the first trailer for The Foreigner came out, I said it looked like Jackie Chan was getting his own Taken; his daughter gets murdered, and he goes on an all-out quest for revenge. This new trailer for The Foreigner makes it look more like something out of the Rambo franchise; Chan’s hanging out in the woods, killing guys with improvised weapons. He doesn’t scream “They drew first blood, not me!” but he might as well.

You’ve also got Pierce Brosnan as a government official with terrorist ties, who speaks in a thick Irish accent exclaiming “He’s just one man!” as Jackie Chan beats up armies of goons in classic martial-arts movie style. And Jackie Chan, who I could swear retired from action movies like five years ago, jumps off a roof. The whole thing is directed by Martin Campbell, who directed Brosnan’s GoldenEye (and later Daniel Craig’s Casino Royale), and definitely knows a thing or two about action. Here’s the official synopsis:

The film tells the story of humble London businessman Quan (Chan), whose long-buried past erupts in a revenge-fueled vendetta when the only person left for him to love -- his teenage daughter -- is taken from him in a senseless act of politically-motivated terrorism. In his relentless search for the identity of the terrorists, Quan is forced into a cat- and-mouse conflict with a British government official (Brosnan), whose own past may hold clues to the identities of the elusive killers.

The Foreigner opens in theaters on October 13.
