The Queen of Twitter, Katy Perry, Is Our Woman Crush Wednesday

The first person to hit 50 million Twitter followers, a colorful Prismatic Tour that hits North America in June and songs guaranteed to get stuck in your head? Yeah, it's hard not to be a Katycat.

Grammy-nominated Katy Perry was born in Santa Barbara, California on October 25, 1984 as Katheryn Hudson. Perry began singing to emulate her older sister, Angela. Her parents eventually put her in singing lessons at the age of nine.

While being raised by two super conservative parents, Perry's exposure to mainstream music was little to none. For this reason, she set out to pursue a career in gospel music and put out a self-titled studio album, Katy Hudson.

Perry moved to Los Angeles at the age of 17. In 2007, she signed with Capitol Records and released her blockbuster single "I Kissed a Girl," this time under the name Katy Perry -- a nod to her mother's maiden name. The song jump-started Perry's career, and shortly after she released her second album, One of the Boys.

After the success of her first single, Katy never looked back.

She released "Teenage Dream," with chart-topping singles like "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream," "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)," "E.T." and "Firework." It was this album, Perry's third, that became the first ever recorded by a female artist to produce five no. 1 hits (the second overall behind Michael Jackson's Bad.)

Perry is currently on tour promoting her fourth album "Prism," which she released in 2013. She's seen huge success with singles "Roar," "Unconditionally" and "Dark Horse." The Prismatic World Tour comes to North America on June 22 and boasts other K945 artists like Capital Cities and Tegan and Sara.

In her personal life, Perry has dated Justin York, Matt Thiessen, Johnny Lewis, and Travie McCoy. She had a one-year marriage with Russell Brand which lasted from October 2010 to December 2011.

She's been in an on-again-off-again relationship with John Mayer since August of 2012. Luckily, she is always on with us.
