Two films that made it to the Top 20 at the 2013 Louisiana Film Prize were featured on ShortsHD's Top 10.

Louisiana Film Prize is a one-of-a-kind, chance-of-a-lifetime opportunity for filmmakers to make a film and get exposure. Last year's Top 20 featured two films that have gotten just that.

ShortsHD is a unique channel on DirecTV dedicated to short films. For the month of July they compiled a Top 10 list of short films to watch. Of all the films to choose from across six continents, two of those were films featured at the 2013 LAFP.

"STALL" and "The Sound of Trains" were showcased on the channel on July 19.

LAFP's one requirement is that all short films be shot in Northwest Louisiana. "STALL" was filmed at Voodoo Cafe in downtown Shreveport, while "The Sound of Trains" was shot at the historic Calloway Corners Bed & Breakfast in Sibley.

The director of "The Sound of Trains" is Travis Champagne, a native of Breaux Bridge. He got his start in the movie business in 2005 when he played Sean Penn's son in "All the Kings Men."

ShortsHD's Top 10 list included films from the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Ireland, and the Netherlands.

LAFP is a non-profit organization that allows filmmakers to create a short film for a chance at winning $50,000. The only major rule is that the film must be shot in Northwest Louisiana. This year's Top 20 will be announced on August 12 at Robinson Film Center. The festival is scheduled for October 10-12.

The people behind LAFP, have also started Louisiana Music Prize and Louisiana StartUp Prize.
