These 2 Berry-Picking Farms are Less Than 50 Mi. From Shreveport
It's finally spring in Shreveport, and I love it! One of my favorite things to do when the weather gets right is to load up the family and hit the road for some delicious manual labor. I'm talking about an awesome day, soaking up the sun while you fill your baskets with berries - and right now, it's strawberry time!
Before you go all "why would I pay to do manual labor?" - just hear me out. If you're doing this as a date, you'd better be the outdoorsy-type that loves nature. If that's you, it could be romantic. For example: I wouldn't take a bachelor/bachelorette party here, but if you've got a family (especially one with young children), you'd be hard pressed to find a better daytrip. As an added bonus, your kids will love picking strawberries so much, they'll completely wear themselves out doing it. I'd be surprised if they make it 10 minutes in the car before they pass out till morning.
Plus, strawberries are the cornerstone of so many delicious spring/summer treats (including some of the alcoholic variety), it's pretty simple to find a delicious way to have the literal fruits of your labor. To misquote Bubba from the movie Forrest Gump, "There's strawberry shortcake, strawberry daquiris, chocolate strawberries, strawberry flambé..."
Time to grab the sunscreen, bug spray, some bottled water, and hit the road!
