While we may have hoped the end could be put off indefinitely, the popular resale chain confirmed its exit, with the final day of operation occurring this past Saturday, October 18th. The beloved store, a fixture in the community for over a decade, is now just a memory.

The Final Treasure Hunt

In the weeks leading up to the closure, the store became a bittersweet frenzy. Book lovers, comic nerds, vinyl collectors, and gamers flocked to the location for one final, frantic treasure hunt.

For years, 2nd & Charles was a reliable trove of used books, movies, retro games, and unique collectibles. However, in its final days, the bustling aisles that once contained such a variety had become sparse, reflecting a ghost of its former self.

The Sign Comes Down

The finality hit hard on Monday, October 20th. As traffic buzzed along Airline Drive, the large, familiar sign above the building was being removed by a sign truck, physically erasing 2nd & Charles from the Bossier City skyline.

This visible act sealed the end of a chapter for local collectors and readers.

A New Chapter Opens

If you're feeling lost, don't worry, you’re not alone! Luckily, there’s a massive silver lining for the book community just down Airline Drive. A new, remodeled Books-A-Million has recently opened its doors, ready to fill the void. This new location, conveniently situated right next to the Aldi in Bossier, is ready to welcome the devoted readers left adrift by the closure.

You can now find your books, magazines, and other reading essentials at the new Books-A-Million, located at 920 Meadow Creek Drive, Bossier City, LA. It’s time to trade nostalgia for novelty and start building up your library again!
