5 Books For Adults Who Are Still In Love With Fairy Tales
I got inspired this weekend after finally getting to see Beauty and the Beast to find books that filled the empty space in my heart where fairy tales used to be. Growing up I was in love with fairy tales and I have realized that I still love them. Fairy tales just add wonder and magic to life.
Nonetheless, I will give you my top 5 books for adults who absolutely love fairy tales.
- The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
I have read this book several times. It is just so good! If you love magic and romance this is perfect for you. This is like The Prestige and Water for Elephants got together and had a baby.
- The Princess Bride by William Goldman
This is quite different than the movie but it still contains all the humor, charm, and wit that the movie does.
- Mermaids in Paradise by Lydia Millet
Newlyweds at a Caribbean resort meet a marine biologist who has seen mermaids. They team up with a group of folks to save mermaids from a company turning their home into a theme park. I will be reading this soon!
- The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton
A girl born with wings tries to fit in with the world and understand why she is different. Where was this when I was in high school?
- The River Witch by Kimberly Brock
People reviewing this book were throwing 5 stars around like they were getting paid for it. This girl is broken spiritually and physically and takes a little trip down to Georgia to get away from her troubles with the little help from mystic river people.
I have come to terms with the fact that I have to "grow up", but there is one thing I will never let go of and it is my whimsy side. I will love fairy tales forever.
