Shreveport Could Be the New Home of Green Energy in NW Louisiana
According to a report from the Shreveport Times, the renewable-energy experts at Bia Energy are considering the Port of Caddo-Bossier in Shreveport as the new location of their massive "blue" methanol plant project. Reportedly, this megastructure will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $550 Million. The company has already scouted out the location and gathered the data they will need to make a decision to build the cutting-edge, carbon-capturing methanol plant.
If Bia Energy Chooses Shreveport, It Will Mean Hundreds of New Jobs
If Bia Energy does decide to build this high-tech plant in Shreveport, they will start construction on a 74-acre plot at the Port of Caddo-Bossier as early as mid-2022. The building phase is set to last 2 years, surely benefitting construction companies in the area. Once it's built, the facility will reportedly bring hundreds of jobs to the area. More precisely: 75 direct new jobs with an average annual salary of $80k plus benefits and 390 indirect jobs that support the new plant. That's a total of 465 new jobs in our little corner of Louisiana.
Bia Energy Will Make Their Decision on the Shreveport Plant Sometime in the Next 3 Months
