On the eve of Netflix returning 2016’s sleeper hit for a second season, the streaming site’s other surprise smash has its own future in mind. Docu-spoof American Vandal is heading to private school, as Netflix confirms Season 2 will arrive in 2018 with an all-new crime.

For those not yet attuned to one of Netflix’s top 25 originals, the Funny Or Die-produced American Vandal follows the mold of Serial and Making a Murderer with a high school true-crime of phallic vandalism against twenty-seven cars. We won’t spoil the investigation’s outcome (and really, you should watch the series for yourself), but American Vandal looks to be moving its Season 2 focus to a private school crime by the first teaser:

At the very least, we know American Vandal co-creators and executive producers Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda will return, along with showrunner and executive producer Dan Lagana. Season 1 starred young actors Tyler Alvarez, Griffin Gluck, Jimmy Tatro, Camille Hyde, Jessica Juarez and more, but Alvarez’s voice in the teaser doesn’t necessarily confirm Peter, or any other characters will return.

Like fellow high school drama 13 Reasons Why, it’s worth wondering if Netflix is doomed to squander Season 1 with an unnecessary sequel, but how might American Vandal Season 2 recapture the same magic?
