Are You Ready To Be Scared?
Let's face it. Some people actually enjoy being scared. Perhaps you or someone you know is one of those people. Actually, there are a lot of people who like to have the bejesus scared out of them.
The new movie It is a perfect case in point. It has now become the most successful movie to ever be released in the month of September. It will soon overtake 1975's The Exorcist as the highest-grossing horror movie of all time.
Scientists have studied the love-to-be-scared phenomenon for years. The consensus is that those who like to pee their pants with fright experience pleasure when frightened because the fright causes higher-than-normal levels of dopamine to occur in their bodies. Dopamine is the hormone that enables us to feel pleasure; ergo, fright=elevated dopamine=pleasure.
So, if you are of the happy-go-scaredy crowd, Fall should be your favorite time of year. The Haunted Houses/Mansions/Trails/Forests/Hay Rides/Mazes are about to open for the Halloween season. In order to help you plan your Terror Tour, we have put together a handful of the most popular attractions in the Ark-La-Tex in no particular order. Happy haunting!
