A Barksdale Airman's fate has been decided by a jury. Isaiah Edwards has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after being found guilty of stabbing his roommate Airman First Class Bradley Hale to death. As part of his punishment, Edwards will also be dishonorably discharged from the Air Force.

Edwards killed his roommate in a dispute while stationed in Guam last year. Edwards openly admitted he killed Hale, but claims he acted in self-defense.

The prosecution had asked for the maximum penalty, life without parole; the defense had been pushing for a sentence of no more than 10 years.

The family of Bradley Hale had hoped for a longer sentence but say now that Edwards has been convicted, they can finally grieve for their loved one.
