Wait, Did I Just Find My New Fried Fish Obsession in Bossier?
Louisiana is forever in the spotlight when it comes to great food. and the Bayou State has a delicious secret: we take pride in our gas station delicacies. I'm not talking about the big names like Buc-ee's or even Louisiana's own famous Billy's Boudin. I'm talking about the mom-and-pop spots where the smell of freshly prepared food hits you the moment you walk through the door.
In my hunt to find the best gas station food, my first stop had to be a North Bossier favorite: Raceway on Benton. As soon as you walk in, you'll probably see Mike, the owner, who makes this place feel more like a hangout than a gas station. People swear by their Icee selection. I had no idea there were so many flavors, but I was there for the food. I ordered the three most popular items on the menu (and, as you know, I skipped the Philly Cheesesteak, as I'm just not a fan!).
The fried chicken and burger were both absolutely delicious and affordable, but the real showstopper was the fried fish. Now, you know I'm not a fried fish girl. I've tried to lean into that fish fry obsession that most folks in the South have, but it just wasn't for me. Or wait, should I say wasn't my thing! The fried fish at Raceway is a game-changer, and whatever sauce they make to go with it is perfection.
