Bossier’s Traffic Woes Are Finally Ending, and It’s Not Just Because of I-20
If you've been anywhere on the road in Bossier City (Shreveport, too), you're all too familiar with the daily traffic gridlock across the whole city. But for the first time in years, there's genuine relief on the horizon. While everyone's focused on the massive I-20 construction project, which is now over 90% finished, a smaller but equally impactful local project has been approved, signaling a dual-pronged effort to solve the congestion issues that have plagued the SBC.
New Right-Turn Lane on Airline Drive to Reduce North Bossier City Traffic
At a recent meeting, the Bossier Parish Police Jury was presented with a proposal to ease the daily pain of traffic jams in Bossier. The proposal, which was approved by the BPPJ, will add a new lane to Airline Drive at the intersection of Swan Lake Road.

It's an area of the road that often becomes congested when traffic becomes heavy, and a new lane for right turns will be a lifesaver for North Bossier drivers. This new lane is expected to significantly improve commute times and reduce congestion for those traveling north on Airline Drive.

I-20 Construction Complements Local Bossier City Traffic Improvements
The localized effort, though unrelated, complements the progress on I-20 perfectly. The ongoing interstate work, which is rebuilding a stretch of road that desperately needed rehabilitation, is on track to wrap up by late 2025. The combination of these two projects-a strategic local fix and the completion of a major interstate overhaul-could mean that the days of sitting in endless traffic are finally numbered for Bossier residents.
