Call Everyone, Hocus Pocus 2 Is Back With Midler and the Girls

A sequel that has been wished about for years is finally coming to fruition. When it released in 1993, Hocus Pocus didn't do as well as expected. Fast-forward many years later, and it now has one of the largest cult followings of any Halloween movie.

The movie stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as a trio of sisters who are witches. They had been cursed and then resurrected 300 years later in Salem by a boy from Los Angeles. The sisters are shocked to learn modern day Halloween has become modernized and is no longer scary for children like it used to be.

According to Variety, the sequel will not be building a better mouse trap, so to speak. It will follow along with the first movie but the sisters will be brought back to modern day by three young women who will have to figure out a way to stop the Sanderson sisters from eating all of the children. Quite honestly, I wouldn't change a thing from the original plot. Make it funny, modernize the jokes, and let's put them back where they came from again while we laugh along the way.

The film has already changed directors, it seems. Adam Shankman has bowed out from directing, but will stay on as executive producer. The new director of the Disney movie will be Anne Fletcher of The Proposal and 27 Dresses. The two have worked together many times before, including Step Up. 

The movie is expected to release next year and debut on Disney+, with production beginning in the fall of 2021.
