Dig Into Archaeology Day at State Exhibit Museum This Weekend
I think when most people think about 'Archaeology', their first thought is probably "old and boring". Which, honestly, is about half right. Archaeology, by definition, is the study of 'old stuff'. But, there's so MUCH more to it than that. It's fascinating really.
Think about some of your favorite movies/pop culture characters/video games/books. Indiana Jones - professor of archaeology. Alan Grant from Jurassic Park - archaeologist. Lara Croft, National Treasure, The Mummy, etc., etc., are all characters or franchises based on the basic principals of archaeology.
So, while on the surface, it may not sounding exciting - it kind of is. Which is why this weekend is a fun one I'm looking forward to. This Saturday, September 14th, is the 9th annual Archaeology Day at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum on the Fairgrounds.
