Fireworks Laws for Shreveport’s Fourth of July Celebrations
We're ready to light up the sky this Independence Day, but there are a few things to keep in mind.
Coming soon, we will be celebrating our nation's freedom. And what would the Fourth of July be without the burgers, ice cream and fireworks? It's a holiday we all look forward to year in and year out. We find ourselves all childlike as we stare up into the sky, mouths agape and eyes wide.
I'm so pumped!
However, before you take a blow torch to those fuses to create fire in the sky, there are some laws you may want to brush up on. There are certain fireworks that are prohibited within city limits, according to the City of Shreveport's website. In addition, there are only certain times of day that you can light those babies up.
Most fireworks are permitted to be sold and discharged within city limits. Bottle rockets and sky rockets are not allowed. You may only shoot fireworks during designated times in the year. In the summer this begins on June 25 at noon and will remain in effect until 10 p.m. on July 5. Fireworks may not be discharged between the hours of 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.
Get you fill while you can because the next time you will be able to shoot fireworks in Shreveport isn't until December 15. And remember to use caution while lighting and discharging fireworks. Obviously these guys are flammable and can cause a lot of damage.
