For New Moms, Louisiana Ranks as One of the Least Expensive States
One study found what when it comes to being a new mom, Louisiana ranks as the third least-expensive state.
I can say that I have had two daughters born in Louisiana, and neither one of them were cheap! Of course, cheap isn't the right word, and raising a child, especially a newborn child, takes a lot of hard work and hard-earned cash, no matter where you live.
As it stands for new moms, there are only two other states in the country that are less expensive than us in Louisiana. Alabama is the second and Mississippi is officially the cheapest.
The website Move.org is responsible for the study, and they based their findings on childcare costs for the first year, as well as costs to actually have the baby.
According to their study, being a new mom in Louisiana costs on average $12,103 during the first year.
