In my relentless hunt for the best gas station food, my second stop had to be a Haughton classic. It seems everyone flocks to the Buc Stop for lunch, and it's easy to see why. As soon as you walk in, you'll probably see Phillip, who makes this place feel more like your grandparents' favorite diner than a gas station.

This place is far from normal. I mean, what gas station is serving up fresh salads and other yummy goodies? While it's great they have lighter options, we were not there to order salads. We were there for the deep-fried goodness. We ordered a classic spread: a chicken crispido, the famous burger with a side of curly fries. And of course, the main event: what I am confidently claiming are some of the best chicken tenders west of the Mississippi.

The curly fries were perfectly seasoned, and the burger was a delicious handful of pure comfort. But let me tell you, those chicken tenders that came highly recommended are truly a game-changer. They're perfectly seasoned, and that crazy delicious sauce they make to go with them is out of this world. I've now found myself making the drive to Haughton on the regular just for these amazing chicken tenders.
