Car Chase in Shreveport Leads to Gun and Theft Arrests

Shreveport Police Patrol Units noticed a car committing multiple traffic violations on Centenary Boulevard.

SPD tried to stop the car on Centenary near Boulevard street, and the driver refused to stop, leading Officers on a chase through residential neighborhoods.

The chase came to a sudden stop, when the driver crashed the car in to a fence in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church near Fern Avenue and Gilbert Drive. The suspects, Christopher Johns, Jacob Weaver, and a juvenile all ran from the accident, but were quickly picked-up and arrested by SPD.

A search of the car turned-up several guns. Johns and Weaver are both convicted felons, and are not permitted to own guns.

Jacob Weaver has a lengthy criminal history including several felony convictions for car theft and burglary. Weaver also has a 2019 guilty plea from an attempted second-degree murder charge. Weaver is facing the following charges:

· Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

· Resisting an officer

· Contributing to the delinquency of a minor

Christopher Johns has convictions for narcotics offenses, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and felon in possession of a firearm. He also has a conviction for attempted second-degree murder. His current charges include:

· Illegal possession of stolen things

· Contributing to the delinquency of a minor

· Resisting an officer

· Flight from an officer

· Aggravated criminal property damage
