Louisiana Songs Guide John Foster to 'Idol' Top 5

Louisiana native John Foster has taken another step closer to becoming the next 'American Idol'. Foster, an 18 year old native from Addis, has made the Top 5 on American Idol with two stunning renditions of songs with Louisiana flavor.

Louisiana Tunes Drive John Foster to Top 5 on 'Idol'

The first song Foster performed Sunday night as part of "Disney Night" was "Almost There" from the hit film "The Princess and the Frog". If you haven't stayed up to date with the latest run of Disney movies, "The Princess and the Frog" is set in New Orleans and features the iconic line "Y'all from Shreveport?"

When asked why he chose this song, here's what John had to say:

When I sing this song, I'm gonna be thinking a lot about my hometown, my home state. We're almost there. Yeah, let's go.

Needless to say, he BLEW AWAY the judges, receiving high praise from Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Carrie Underwood. Later in the episode, Foster performed another song with Louisiana ties - "Believe" from Country duo Brooks and Dunn. Kix Brooks, of course, is from Shreveport, Louisiana and can still regularly be spotted around town.

Can Louisiana Native John Foster Be the Next American Idol?

At this point, it's late enough in the game to believe that John can actually win the whole thing. He's blown away the judges and fans at home every step of the way. But the next hurdle to clear comes Monday night when America will pick the Top 3 and set up who wins it all on the Season Finale Sunday night.
