Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Damn.’ Stays at No. 1 on Billboard 200 for Second Consecutive Week
As expected, Kendrick Lamar’s critically acclaimed Damn. project is No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart for the second consecutive week.
According to Billboard, the collection pushed an additional 238,000 equivalent albums units last week. If you add the LP’s first-week sales totals of 603,000 units and K.Dot has successfully earned 841,000 equivalent album units altogether. Damn!
The album sales were bolstered by streams as it garnered 136,000 units. The set sold 87,000 in traditional album sales and earned 14,000 in TEA units. Also, keep in mind that all of the album tracks are charting on the Billboard Hot 100 Songs chart. The set’s lead single, “Humble,” is at No. 1, while his explosive track “DNA” is at No. 4 and the Rihanna-assisted ballad “Loyalty” sits at No. 14.
Meanwhile, back on the Billboard 200 tally, Drake’s More Life sits comfortably at No. 2 with 77,000 units moved last week. Overall, the Toronto rapper can now add his album to the list of platinum achievements.
Drizzy is also happy for K.Dot's album success. As we previously reported, the 6 God commented on an Instagram post by Elliott Wilson that shows a screen capture of the estimated albums totals aforementioned above. He wrote in the caption, “Amazing to see our music moving!!!”
True indeed. This is a great time for rap music. Two of the biggest albums in the country are by two of the biggest artists in hip-hop. We can't complain about that.
Hopefully, rap fans will get to hear Drake and Lamar collaborate on a song. Apparently, Drizzy seems to be open for another duet with Kung Fu Kenny by way of DJ Khaled. That would be a major key.
