National PTSD Awareness Day is June 27th and one local group that is already helping Veterans with PTSD needs your help to serve local law enforcement officers who are also dealing with trauma.

If we're being honest, the last year-plus has been an absolute bitch for many of us. From healthcare workers to small businesses, we've all had our cross to bear. But my heart really goes out to law enforcement. Not only did they work straight through the pandemic, but they've also had to deal with intense scrutiny and change. And that's on top of how hard their job is, to begin with!

I don't know how much you know about trauma, but it's very real and it doesn't just affect our brave service members. According to the American Psychological Association, trauma is defined as an 'emotional response to a terrible event like an accident, rape, or natural disaster. Immediately after the event, shock and denial are typical. Longer-term reactions include unpredictable emotions, flashbacks, strained relationships, and even physical symptoms like headaches or nausea.'

Warrior Horse is a non-profit organization in Frierson, LA that is already working to help Veterans suffering from PTSD, free of charge, using equine-assisted therapy. They would like to expand their services to help local law enforcement. That's where you come in. They need funding, they need people to help organize and develop a plan, and more than anything, they need your support.
