Local Emerging Artists Prepare for Louisiana Music Prize, Chance at $5,000 Prize
Next week, local bands will be competing for Music Prize glory!
Louisiana Music Prize (LAMP) kicks off next week as a part of Prize Week in Shreveport-Bossier. The giant of the bunch is, of course, Louisiana Film Prize which will transform downtown Shreveport into a hub of film, music and food.
Earlier this month, the competitors for LAMP were announced.
Each band or artist will perform during the Emerging Artist Showcase at VooDoo: An Art Bar in downtown Shreveport on September 29. The show begins at 6:30 p.m. and will wrap with the announcement of the winner at 1 a.m. The winning band will win $5,000 and the opportunity to open for The Polyphonic Spree when they perform at the Red River Revel that same weekend.
The winner will be selected by a panel of guest judges.
This year, three of the five bands selected were local artists. According to the Shreveport Times, they are as follows:
- The Bristol Hills (Shreveport)
- Troof Music (Shreveport)
- Grace Askew (Memphis, TN)
- The Wall Chargers (Shreveport)
- Cade Foehner (Center, TX)
Tickets for Louisiana Music Prize are just $10. You can purchase tickets here. To find out more about Louisiana Music Prize, log onto LAMusicPrize.com or check out their Facebook page.
