Louisiana Same Sex Couples Denied Protection Against Domestic Abuse
According to KATC, Louisiana and South Carolina are the only states that requires the victim of domestic abuse be of the opposite sex in order for it to be considered domestic abuse.
Yesterday the Senate voted 17-14 against Republican Rep. Patrick Connick's bill that doesn't protect same sex couples when it comes to domestic abuse.
From what I can understand the vote took place where 7 senators were not present. That also included several democrats.
I don't understand what the difference is. Everyone should be protected when it comes to domestic violence. It doesn't matter who you are with if they are hurting you- you should be protected.
