Louisiana’s Captain America Gets His Movie Trailer

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has started to slow down after rapid expansion post-pandemic. The studio launched a lot of projects that performed below expectations, and caused fractures inside of one of the industry's most stable title banners. Movies like Eternals, Thor Love & Thunder, and the Ant-Man & the Wasp Quantumania title all fell extremely flat.

This doesn't just mean that they didn't financially perform as well as the studio expected, they fell short of what fans expected too. When the MCU has hung their hat on being a fully connected story, and you drop elements into your universe that don't fit with the established construction, it causes issues. So when the Eternals leaves a giant head sticking out of the ocean, but none of your other movies address it, people lose confidence in your storytelling.

That lack of confidence started to cause issues inside Marvel Studios, where they had to reexamine projects they were midstream on, like the next Captain America movie.

One of the best Disney+ series over the last few years, even through the creative turbulence, was The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. That led the studio to explore a new Captain America title featuring actor Anthony Mackie.

Mackie is a Louisiana native, who broke into the MCU films playing the role of Sam Wilson aka The Falcon. During The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series, Mackie took over the mantle as Captain America. So the next Captain America film would be Mackie's first in the role.

However...the filming of the project hasn't gone too well. The movie underwent weeks of reshoots after principal filming had completed. But the reshoots were reportedly not as long as some of the other recent MCU projects.

Now we get to see what the movie is going to look like, as they have released the new trailer...

Mackie is from New Orleans, and comes back to Louisiana often. His family remains in the area, and he talks about the area often. In fact, Sam Wilson's character in the MCU differs from his character in the Marvel comic books when it comes to their origins. In the comic books, he's from New York...while in the MCU, Sam Wilson is from Louisiana. That fact becomes a focal point of the The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series.
