At this time, LSU, UL, and their decision-makers have no plan on requiring vaccinations for on-campus students.

Believe it or not, there was speculation that our colleges would require their students to get the vaccine. Sure, I think regardless of where you stand on the vaccine, most of us still don't believe in forcing anyone to get the vaccine. Sure, some of us may recommend getting it and share our experiences after receiving it, but at the same time, I don't believe many of us support the idea of getting the vaccine, or you can't do this/that.

Still, there were some, certainly friends of mine here in Shreveport-Bossier, who wouldn't have been surprised if LSU or other colleges did demand their students to get the vaccine before they return to campus.

This week, LSU and UL announced that students will be welcomed back to campus for the fall semester with or without the vaccine.

Former BPCC Chancellor and current UL System President Jim Henderson says, "Until there is a biologics license approved I’m just having some ethical challenges with requiring a vaccine.” He also stated that a biologics license will most likely not be available until 2022.

Henderson also did his part to recommend getting the vaccine by saying, "We know vaccines are safe and we are strongly recommending as many people get vaccinated as possible, we are having vaccine fairs on our campuses."
