LSUS Student Wins International Scholarship
An LSU-Shreveport senior English major has been selected to participate in an international internship program in Kabul, Afghanistan.College students from Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Oregon who are currently competing, or have previously competed, in the International Public Debate Association (IPDA) program were invited to apply. Two students from LSUS were actually among four from this area chosen to participate in the program but Rachal Cox was the only one of those two who chose to accept the invitation. Students were selected based on their resumes, applications, and letters of recommendation. Rachal has been involved with the LSUS debate program for the past two years and says that she wants to play a part in teaching Afghan students the skills they will need to forever change and better their lives. She'll be spending the next two months working at various college campuses in and around Kabul.
