It's been a very good year for Lupita Nyong'o. First an Oscar, now she has been named People magazine's "Most Beautiful."

Lupita Nyong'o told People that being a role model for other women is a big priority for her, but her first thought about being beautiful was having "light skin and long, flowing, straight hair." She said it was hard for her to get past that stereotype.

Nyong'o says her mother, Dorothy, expressed to her that her own beauty was enough. Her mother always told her she was beautiful, making her believe it herself. She says most of her compliments come when she has no makeup on.

The most important thing to Nyong'o is happiness.
