Minden, Louisiana, has always claimed they are the "friendliest city in the South". They even have a moniker that traces back to the '80s, and they have an epic mural welcoming you to town, reminding you they're the "friendliest". Minden might be known for something else besides being friendly, all because of a new article from Southern Living.

Southern Living Spotlights Minden's Thriving Antique Scene

Southern Living claims that Minden is an antique lover’s dream. "Whether you’re on the hunt for a dazzling brooch or a charming piece of Southern decor, your options will be plentiful."  The article went on to highlight several Minden antique stores, and we love that Southern Living celebrated not just life in Minden, but the thrifting and antique shopping possibilities. Southern Living mentioned: Heavenly Treasures Antique Mall, Possibilities Antiques and Collectibles, Kim’s Attic, FlipFlop Resale, and Mercy’s Closet. Don't you love seeing small businesses get some national attention?

Beyond Antiques: Travel + Leisure Praises Minden's Friendly Locals

Although Southern Living will tell you that Minden is worth visiting because of the antiques, Travel and Leisure claims it's much more than that. The magazine claims it's all about the locals.

It's no secret if you visit Minden, the locals are always a pleasure. Some of my favorite humans call Minden home. Sara McDaniel, who is the local home renovation guru and creator of Simply Southern Cottage, was interviewed for the Travel and Leisure article. You have probably heard of Sara McDaniel's role in bringing the "Home Town Kickstart" show to Minden. McDaniel told Travel and Leisure, “We welcome everybody. Everybody is so kind and friendly that you will not be able to walk our streets and not smile.”

There are multiple reasons to visit "The Friendliest City in the South." Let's keep celebrating Minden and everything it has to offer.
