RJ's had a fire on Tuesday, March 18th. Shreveport firefighters responded to the eatery just after 5:00 am after workers claimed that they could not contain the fire using a fire extinguisher. According to KTBS, "It took 30 firefighters about 30 minutes to bring the incident under control." Luckily, there were no injuries. Since then, the community waited for the diner to announce that they were going to open back up.

RJ's had been bustling; they were highlighted in SBJ's Weekly Restaurant Review in August of 2024, and several people think that it helped bring in new faces and create new regulars. However, it may not have been enough to convince the owners to be able to reopen.

RJ's Announces Permanent Closure Via Social Media

The crew at RJ's first thanked their loyal patrons for their support over the last 30 years. However, they claim that the damages sustained by the last fire "has determined that the reopening is no longer feasible." The post went on to say, "RJ’s extends many thanks to its loyal customers, staff and community for their unwavering support throughout the years. While this chapter is closing, the memories and experiences shared will remain cherished."

RJ's Location and the Future of the Site

RJ's is located at 9124 Mansfield Rd, Shreveport, LA. There is no word if another restaurant plans to move into this space and build a new restaurant.
