One of my favorite dishes is Spanish Paella, who doesn't love some of the best seafood and rice? It's a no-brainer that Lousiana's famous Jambalaya has become of of my favorite dishes in the boot. Although we can't pinpoint when Jambalaya became one of the best savory rice dishes of all time, we do know that it can be prepared in several different ways. Jambalaya has African, Spanish, and French influences. Most of the Jambalaya we enjoy consists mainly of meat or seafood, and vegetables mixed with rice and spices. However one thing is certain, not all Jambalaya is created equal.

Do You Make the Best Jambalaya? Do You Want Bragging Rights to Prove It?

You can prove to Northwest Louisiana that you make the best Jambalaya west of the Mississippi in Minden. Historic Main Street will be hosting a jambalaya cook-off on  Saturday, November 2nd from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Minden Civic Center parking lot. The event is Jambin’ on Main, and who doesn't love a fun day with delicious food, Cajun and Zydeco music, and Louisiana beer?

Main to Main is an annual event that will be happening at the same time. Could this be your chance to shine on Main? The awards are first, second, and third places along with People’s Choice, but we know you and your four-man team will win the People's Choice right?

Taste testing and judging for People’s Choice will begin at 11 a.m. Tasting cups will be $5. They are also on the hunt for official judges, so if you’re interested in judging or cooking, you can sign up by emailing mainstreet@mindenusa.com. The entry fee for a four-man team is $100.
