Of all local sports to get a live-streaming deal, Bossier City's youth leagues being broadcast by NBC Sports was one of the last things we expected. It's surprising news to hear that the Bossier City Council is close to voting on allowing these games to be streamed on TV, ideally so families far and wide can watch their little ones play ball. Even though it's cool to see the possibility of local Little League games being streamed globally, it makes you wonder why the beloved Shreveport Mudbugs don't have a streaming deal yet.

Why Aren't The Shreveport Mudbugs On Streaming?

If youth leagues can manage a streaming deal with a media company worth billions, then why can't one of the best teams in the North American Hockey League get on TV? The Shreveport Mudbugs have over a decade of combined history in Shreveport-Bossier City, a loyal fanbase, and a legacy of Robertson Cup wins to live up to.

For many local fans, the only times they ever get to see their Mudbugs play is at home in Shreveport. When our favorite hockey players leave town for an away game, many people in town can't see it, and that means they miss their local team crushing it. A major streaming deal for the Mudbugs and the NAHL, with a platform like Netflix, Peacock, or ESPN, would be a huge moment for Shreveport and would give the team a level of attention never seen before.

The NAHL Secret: Watch The Mudbugs Anytime and Anywhere

Though what many Mudbugs fans might not know is that there's already a way to watch most Mudbugs games. The NAHL already has a streaming deal with... itself. NATV is a streaming service built for the NAHL and its lesser leagues. Any game available on NATV can be watched for just a one-time payment of $14.99, the same price as the cheapest tickets for a Mudbugs game.

Maybe one day in the future, while an NBC executive is enjoying a youth baseball game at Tinsley Park, that exec will overhear just how much love there is for the Shreveport Mudbugs in town and decide it's time to put pen to paper. Until then, we can still enjoy our favorite ice-skating, puck-flinging, fist-fighters through NATV and right here at home.
