Mudbugs Win Big in Final Home Game, Pivotal Game Five Next
The Mudbugs played their final home game of the season, and man did they put on a show.
The Shreveport Mudbugs fell victim to an all-time collapse during game three in Shreveport. Wednesday night, heading into the third period, the Mudbugs held a commanding 3-0 lead with twenty minutes remaining. Then, to the shock of Mudbugs fans and players alike, the league-leading Amarillo Bulls displayed a comeback of immaculate proportions, eventually winning the game 4-3 in overtime.
Many wrote the Mudbugs off heading into their win-or-go-home game four in Shreveport.
The Mudbugs had something else in mind.
In front of a large crowd (Thursday night standards), the Shreveport Mudbugs looked to show they are in fact a championship team, and they delivered.
Goalie Leo Chuard saved all forty of Amarillo's shot attempts, and the Bugs won 2-0 in a masterful shutout. For the Bugs, veterans Gueorgui Feduolov and Jay Feiwell scored the only two goals of the night.
Now, all focus heads to Amarillo as the two teams will face off one final time with the winner heading to Minnesota for the NAHL Robertson Cup semi-finals.
Game five is set for a 7:00 puck drop Sunday evening, with local watch parties being held at Larry's Pizza and Buffalo Wild WIngs.
