New Law: Schools Can’t Suspend Students for Disobeying Teachers

If a kid in school disobeys the teacher, what do you think happens?  When I was in school, you could get a paddling - but that is all verbotten now.  So, the kid should at least get detention or suspension - right?  Wrong!

According to KRON4, one new law that went into effect on January 1st in California will make it illegal for public schools to suspend students in 1st - 5th grade for "willfully defying teachers or administrators."  The new law has been temporarily extended for students in grades 6 through 8 until the year 2025.

In Louisiana, not only are teachers still able to dole out suspensions whenever they deem it necessary - it's still legal for them to paddle your child!  That's right, while California has made it basically against the law to correct a defiant child - teachers and administrators in this state can spank them (with parent's permission, of course).  While 31 states have outlawed this practice, Louisiana is still a "spare the rod, spoil the child," kinda place.

Not all of the new laws going into effect in the ‎Eureka State are stupid - because of their distracting nature of personal electronic devices like the smartphone (and the subsequent lower test scores in schools where their use in unfettered) schools will have the power to ban these devices with the exception of emergencies or other special situations.
