This sport has been around since 6,000 BC, and now, it's here in Shreveport-Bossier.

We've had a lot of sports come to town through the years. Baseball, Football, Soccer, Roller Derby, Hockey, you name it. However, there is one sport that we haven't been able to get our hands on in our hometown, until now.

Of course, I'm talking about the beautiful sport of skiing.

Believe it or not, the first skiing artifacts were found in the 1960s and dated all the way back to 6,000 BC! That's a lot of years for us not to have this beautiful sport in our neck of the woods.

Naturally, things changed this week when the Barksdale Bubble lost power and let in a hellacious winter weather storm. I've been in Shreveport for nearly 30 years and I've seen snow/winter weather, but never anything quite like this. I've also never felt single-degree weather until this week, but believe it or not, I have skied in Shreveport before.

In fact, I consider myself a true skiing pioneer for my efforts to bring the sport here nearly 11 years ago. Sadly, over a decade ago, the craze didn't quite catch on, despite my best effort to popularize the sport during a much-less impressive snowstorm.

However, things are different now. This weather we're dealing with is a whole nother beast. It will be here to stay for the foreseeable future, and I know many of you are bored entirely.

So get out and safely ski in Shreveport today, after all, it's not every day you can read that sentence.

Here's my video from a very long time ago, do you think you can (safely) do it better? Show us!
