The star-studded romantic comedy "New Year's Eve" fell somewhat short of expectations but still managed to top last weekend's box office with a disappointing $13.7 million. Jonah Hill's "The Sitter" also had a tough opening week, taking in only $10 million in what analysts say is the worst box office weekend in more than three years. And "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 1" came in third, grossing $7.9 million.
