One Direction’s Liam Payne And Sophia Smith Split

A One Direction member is back on the market.

The group's Liam Payne has broken up with girlfriend Sophia Smith after dating for two years, E! News reports.

Although the two began dating in 2013, they have known each other for quite some time. "I didn't actually go out with her at the time [when we were younger]," Payne told Attitude magazine in its September issue. "I used to see her at school and we'd kind of chat. I asked her sister for her number. She was very shy and didn't give much indication that she liked me, so I just assumed that she wasn't interested, as well as thinking, she was way too hot for me anyway."

No reason was given for the split, but a tweet posted by Liam Friday may have hinted that things were not exactly going swimmingly. "I love how music is always there for you when you need it most x," he posted. And so will his fans.
