A Bossier City man who admitted shooting a woman in the parking lot of Willis Knighton in Bossier City has been indicted on a charge of 2nd degree murder.

23-year-old Ramsey Akes is accused of gunning down 65-year-old Cynthia Walker after a road rage incident that apparently started on Benton Road.

Akes was arrested back on October 28 after he called police to report what happened.

What Do Prosecutors Allege Happened?

Walker was shot to death in the parking lot of Willis-Knighton Bossier. Police said Walker followed Akes to the parking lot of the hospital after he allegedly rear-ended her vehicle. Walker had positioned her SUV to block Ake's car in. She then walked to the back of her vehicle and pulled out some sort of club or stick and approached his car. That's when Akes shot Walker at least 7 times.

An off duty Bossier Police officer was at the scene visiting someone in the hospital along with another officer who was working security. They both tried to render aid until Walker was rushed to the trauma center at Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport. She later died.

Akes was initially charged with first degree murder. But he maintained he feared for his life as Walker approached his car and that is why he used deadly force.
