Robinson Film Center is taking over downtown Shreveport for a dazzling "Festival of Festivals", complete with food, music and parties galore!

The Robinson Film Center will raise a toast to the world's best festivals in a gala fundraiser on May 10. It's the second Backlot fundraiser called "Festival of Festivals" and this year will be even bigger.

"This is going to be one big, bold and fabulous experience," RFC board president Waynette Ballengee said. "We had so much fun in 2012 at Millennium Studios. This time, we are bringing this cutting-edge experience to the streets. The night will dazzle everyone. We're so excited to celebrate RFC with the community!"

Beginning at 6 p.m., the Robinson Film Center will transform the 600 and 700 blocks of Texas Street into a series of beautiful and vibrant film-themed parties. Guests will journey through some of the biggest film festivals:

-Cannes: located in the Robinson Film Center and grand outdoor tent

-Tribeca: located in Abby Singer's Bistro at the Robinson Film Center

-Sundance: located on the newly renovated 616 Texas Street

-Venice: located at Southern University

-The Afterglow late-night dance party: located at Artspace

Each stop will feature food, drinks and entertainment from around the world.

Wear your best "Hollywood chic" attire because the party will include red carpet arrivals, a multimedia dance party with DJ MTK, food by Chipotle Mexican Grill and other caterers, and some fun perks for sponsors.

Guests can expect to be entertained all night long beginning with the red carpet arrivals on the Texas Street French Riviera. You'll pose for paparazzi or sip chic cocktails in the Cannes-style guest tent. Southern University will serve fine Italian wines and savory foods from Venetian gondoliers.

One of the 600 block venues will be transformed into a Sundance-style Wild West with beer flights and dance lessons provided by Sandy's Dance. Bid on items in the exclusive Live Auction: World Festivals experience, cosponsored by Travel Crafter, LLC. Guests can bid on extravagant trips to the worlds greatest film festivals.

"Our guests will be treated like celebrities for the entire spectacular event," Melva Williams, RFC board member said. "We are thrilled to have the support of our neighbors in the downtown Shreveport area to make Backlot possible.

Tickets for the gala are on sale now. Your $150 ticket will cover the entire night's festivities. Sponsorships for the event are also still available. Top level sponsors will receive a permanent star on the Walk of Fame outside of the Robinson Film Center.

Proceeds will benefit the Robinson Film Center. The Center's mission is to educate, enrich and entertain through the power of film. Robinson Film Center is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit arts organization located at 617 Texas Street in Shreveport.
