Severe Storms Leave Over 10,000 Without Power

UPDATED: 4:54 AM - Swepco has just updated the outage map and now 11,148 are without power.

Storms ravaged a huge swath of the Arklatex yesterday evening and continue into this morning leaving downed trees, power lines, and many without power.

As of 4:45 am this morning (Monday), SWEPCO is showing 10,614 customers are still without power due to the storms.  As you can see, the hardest hit area seems to extend from Longview, Texas to Shreveport with most of the outages south of I-20, but there's still plenty north of I-20 that are still in the dark as well.

And according to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, we're not out of the woods yet.  As of 4:25 this morning they write:

SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR WESTERN DE SOTO AND SOUTHWESTERN CADDO PARISHES, PANOLA, RUSK, NACOGDOCHES...SHELBY...NORTHWESTERN SAN AUGUSTINE AND EAST CENTRAL  CHEROKEE COUNTIES UNTIL 530 AM CDT...

At 425 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 10 miles northeast of Henderson to near Minden
to near Alto. Movement was east at 50 mph.

Pea size hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with these
storms.

Locations impacted include...
Nacogdoches, Henderson, Carthage, Center, Stonewall, Logansport,
Tatum, Alto, Tenaha, Timpson, Garrison, Beckville, Joaquin, Deberry,
Pinehill, Martinsville, Trawick, Sacul, Douglass and Minden.

These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 AM CDT for northwestern
Louisiana...and eastern and northeastern Texas.
