Where Can Shreveport-Bossier Have a Socially Distant Concert?

I drove all the way to Austin, Texas for a weekend getaway and of course to be one of the first to experience a socially distanced concert. There is one thing that I have missed during the pandemic. Truthfully, I have missed concerts more than anything. When one of my favorite country bands MIdland announced they would be having outdoor concerts with very limited capacity I was in, no questions asked on my part.

What I showed up to on Friday night at the Dell Diamond ballpark in round rock was very different, in fact, it is one of the weirdest things I have ever seen. Although it looked like hardly anyone showed up to the concert, it was considered max capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions. If you had seats in the stands there were 2 empty seats in between you and other ticket holders.

The part that threw me off completely was the "pods" on the field. First off I had no idea we would need blankets or chairs. to be able to enjoy the concert. Instead, we sat on the grass and there were poles and sticks along with string indication where our pod needed to stay. I'd say it was about a 5 x 5 square foot pod.

Of course with any outdoor concert, the sound may feel "off" or discombobulated but after a few songs the sound crew figured it out. Several people wore masks, in fact, we were required to wear masks during our initial check-in. That didn't stop several people from flinging their masks off as soon as the concert started.

Overall I am very grateful that there is some sense of normalcy and that people were respectful of space and pods, keep in mind they were respectful although there was a lot of alcohol in the mix. Where will we be able to have a concert like this in Shreveport-Bossier? There isn't a spot nearby that makes me think we could pull off something like this in Shreveport-Bossier.
