Shreveport-Bossier’s Give for Good Day Set for Tuesday, May 3
It's the biggest day for our community to take care of itself. Are you ready to Give for Good?
One thing that I have learned in Shreveport-Bossier is that when our community decides to take care of one another, the results are beautiful. Tuesday, is a day to do just that; commit to take care of one another. The Community Foundation of North Louisiana is hosting the third annual Give for Good day this coming Tuesday, May 3.
It's an online giving event for 180 local nonprofits that only lasts 24 hours.
You'll see plenty of charities throughout the area on the site and you can donate to any number of them that you want. It all starts at 12 a.m. on Tuesday and will last until 11:59 p.m. that same day. Every single donation given on this day will be amplified with more that $225,000 from the Lagniappe fund. This is compiled of a pledge from the Community Foundation as well as other corporate donors like Grayson Foundation, Powers Foundation, Cook, Yancey, King & Galloway, and other donations.
You can see which nonprofits are participating and learn more about their missions in our area by visiting GiveForGoodNLA.org. This will also be where you make your donations during Give for Good day. Donations given must be a minimum of $10.
You'll be able to watch a live stream of all the donations coming in.
According to executive director of The Community Foundation, the goal of Give for Good expands beyond just donations.
"Our goal in hosting Give for Good is to build a new generation of philanthropists for our community and show how important it is to give to nonprofit organizations in North Louisiana. We want to raise awareness about the many services they each provide to our community. Last year during Give for Good, our community raised more than one million dollars and this year we are challenging the people of North Louisiana to double that commitment to our local nonprofits."
There will also be several events taking place throughout Shreveport-Bossier on Give for Good day. You can make donations at these sites. A list of the events is available at GiveForGoodNLA.org/events.
