Hi, my name is Erin and I need to declutter and organize my home here in the Shreveport-Bossier City, LA area. Seriously, that's a real statement and I've started, but I can't seem to keep myself motivated. And this is coming from the girl whose closet is color-coded!

What's the best way to organize and declutter your home, Shreveport-Bossier?

The reason why I want to hear from my friends and neighbors is that while I know I need to organize and declutter, I can't stay motivated to finish the job. If there's a specific local charity or cause that can use some of this 'stuff,' I'm all about donating it. I guess, in short, if it's about me, I won't do it. If it's about someone else, I will. Weird, right?

Well, there's this new deal floating around the internet that piqued my interest. In an effort to get organized by Christmas, folks are using something called the 'calendar method.'

How does the 'calendar method' for organizing and decluttering work?

It's actually pretty easy... in theory. First, you print out a calendar. Then, on day one, you get rid of one piece of clutter in your home. It doesn't matter if you throw it away or donate it, you just have to get rid of it. Then you cross that day off. On day two, you get rid of two things, and so on and so forth. They say it works because you 'pace' yourself and that by the end of the month, you will have gotten rid of almost 500 items.

While I think I could handle it for the first week or two, what the heck do you do by the end of the month? I know the idea is to get out from under everything that's holding you down, but it also sounds kind of terrifying. What if you run out of things to toss? Do you win? I mean, I know that's not possible, but maybe I have a secret hoarder side that I haven't examined before?

Sigh, have you done a big cleanout/organizing project? I want to hear from you and find out what worked, and what didn't, and maybe ask for a little help!
