New Coffee Spot in Benton: SoBo Cafe Opens Its Doors
Another new business has opened up in Benton, finally giving locals the option of picking up coffee without driving all the way to Bossier.

SoBo Moves From Bossier to Benton
What became a staple to the few who still traversed the Bossier City, a giant skeleton statue sat right outside of the food court wearing different decorations to fit the seasons. The skeleton was part of SoBo Cold Brew's macabre theme, a cold brew coffee spot that sat where the old Great American Cookie used to sit.
SoBo Cold Brew has a new name and new location, now SoBo Cafe in Benton, sitting right on Highway 3.
A name change is fitting for the shop, though I think many would've expected the SoBo part to change since they're no longer in Bossier, but a good name either way.
Benton's New Spot, Bossier Mall Left Without Another
Now that SoBo has its new location in Benton, the mall in Bossier has lost another spot. The food court now sits without a single place to buy a drink or grab a snack (unless you count the vending machines).
It's good to see a local business expanding and thriving, but it does make you look back and wonder what might be the fate of the mall. Malls used to be a bustling place of business and now there's an entire Wikipedia page dedicated to Demolished shopping malls in the United States.
Even just across the border in Texas malls continue to be left with no storefronts, and inevitably left to be demolished. With businesses like Surge having just moved in and opened up a few years ago, and Sloan's Formals moving in, it's not likely that the mall will be going away anytime soon.
