Shout out to my friend Erin Buchanan at KTBS for covering this amazing story.

Back when we experienced terrible flooding in our area, one couple found themselves facing death head on.

Dr. Arthur Fort and his wife Jane were traveling on North Market on March 8th, when they hit high water under a railroad overpass. Within minutes, the water in the car raised to their chests. They both managed to get out of the car, but that didn't get them out of danger.

Dr. Fort, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, told KTBS the following: "I was standing there thinking, what am I going to do? I'm going to drown."

Luckily, Sgt. Kelley Morman was already there directing traffic and quickly sprung into action. Morman called for backup and soon Cpl. Jeremy Edwards and Cpl. Stephen Desselle arrived on the scene. The three officers removed the Forts from danger, something they are very grateful for saying, "If I had fallen back and gone under that water, I would have drowned," Dr. Fort says. "I could have never come back up."

Once the Forts were removed from harm's way, Officer Cody Walsworth drove them back to their home after the scary ordeal.

Last week, these four officers were honored.

Thanks to Erin Buchanan with KTBS, here's the footage!
