Study Says Sleeping With Lights On Could Cause Weight Gain In Women
Ladies a new study has found that when you sleep with the television or lights on could you to gain weight.
According to CNN, the report was from the Journal of the American Medical Association, where they surveyed 43,722 women. It showed that sleeping with an artificial light on at night was significantly associated with increased risk of weight gain and obesity.
We are in the middle of an obesity epidemic in the United States and the things that we usually think about for obesity prevention are hard for people to do -- eat a better diet, get more exercise -- and we don't seem to be making a dent. If these study findings are true and if they can be replicated then it's a very easy public health message to turn off the lights when you're sleeping.
Overall, the women who slept with a light in the room or a TV also had a 10 percent or more increase in BMI, and were also more likely to be overweight or obese.
