Like Gators? You’ll Love the Taste of Shreveport Gator Cook-Off
Louisiana's recipes are loved around the world, and for the most part you can recreate them wherever you are. Not everything tastes right once you stray from the homeland, and one of the finest examples of that is alligator.
Luckily for all of the gator lovers in the area, the mother of all throw-down cook-offs is coming up soon. The Ark-La-Tex Homepage is reporting that the 4th annual Taste Of Shreveport Gator Cook-Off is a go for December the 4th at the Captain Shreve Cafeteria from 11 AM till 1 PM. Not every dish will be gator (the event is named for the Captain Shreve Gators), but since the judges will be looking to crown the "Chef of the Swamp" by testing out the best gumbos, seafood, desserts, and more - there's bound to be a few things made from "swamp cattle."
It's going to be delicious, but it's not all about the food. The event will also host a makers fair, that means table after table of unique items made in the Ark-La-Tex will be on hand to buy just in time for Christmas! Judges will also be looking for the best decorated Cajun-Christmas table and have set aside the the "Merriest in the Swamp" award for the winner!
There's 3 ways to get in to this gator-fest: As a Chef, a maker, or a guest. Each way will cost you $10 - and you're likely to get your fill of gator and delicious Louisiana eats however you get in the door! The best part is: All of the proceeds will help to fund Club Z's activities that serve the school and the community.
