The Chica & The Bald Guy Teacher of the Week is Cyndi Gander!

Every week, Chica & the Bald Guy search the Shreveport/Bossier City area (commonly referred to as the SBC) for your favorite teacher.  Every single person who chooses the teaching lifestyle does so knowing that they will most likely never get rich for it.  The fearless men and women that face a class full (or more) of our kids day in and day out deserve much more than they get.

It is in that spirit that we seek to recognize one educator a week who goes above and beyond the call of duty for her students!  This week, that exemplary teacher is W.T. Lewis Elementary School Kindergarten Teacher Cyndi Gander! 

Cyndi was nominated by her husband Shawn Gander!  Shawn has had the pleasure of seeing Cyndi blossom into a dynamite educator, and is in awe of her dedication every day.  Here's what Shawn had to say about his amazing wife:

We are a military family and Cyndi sacrificed for 20 years following me around the country teaching and substituting where and when she could. Like most teachers Cyndi is constantly working long hours on nights, weekends/"breaks", and spends her own money for necessary classroom supplies. If a child needs a backpack or other item she doesn't hesitate to help them. Super BIG heart! She truly teaches for the love of the children and bettering education. She lights up when she sees a former or current student in the neighborhood or at a store. Cyndi is amazing and has made a difference in the lives of the children she has taught. She is part of a terrific family of teachers and staff at W.T. Lewis Elementary School and deserves the recognition. Thank you!!!
