The 146th Kentucky Derby is happening and yes, there will be fans.

Derby Week kicks off September 1st, and the race will be run Saturday the 5th at Churchill Downs in Louisville.

There will be restrictions though. Venues will not be operating at full capacity, and guests will be encouraged to wear masks at all times, unless they're in their reserved seat.

They'll also be asked to practice social distancing, and to frequently wash or sanitize their hands.

The Derby was originally scheduled for May 2nd.

The first Run For The Roses at Churchill Downs was in 1875.  This historical race actually was started by the grandson of William Clark from the Lewis and Clark expedition fame.  The Kentucky Derby has a fascinating history, I encourage you to read up on it.
